traded for gold.
On a rainy summer day,
while the air is damp—
thick with spores
that confuse and choke—
buried it in a pit
dug before the house.
The soil—
no longer itself.
Strange flowers planted.
Laughter,
more laughter.
More memories of him
tossed in—
blurred,
permitted
to continue in mist-like forms:
in the dreams
of his bloodline,
in midday murmurs,
until those illusions,
like insects,
chewed the gold to nothing.
And then—
people began
to truly accept
his death.
On the border of hell,
a town.
A hair salon glowing
with red neon.
The air smells
like trance.
For a single grain
